+ Enjoyed dinner on Monday night with my fabulous friend Vicky and then I got to take a half day on Tuesday and see my former college roommate and super great friend Nakia who lives in Reno. It was wonderful to see them both!
- The continued rain (and therefore mountain snow) that very well may prevent me from being able to get to Bend this coming weekend for my bestie Kristal's 30th birthday party. DISLIKE!!!! Pray for warm air so the precipitation falling in the mountains turns to just rain!
I discovered the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC) when I fell in love with a song that was featured on an episode of Bones on Fox.
Their sound is an unique rock/blues/folk mix influenced by bands/musicians like the Rolling Stones, Oasis, Bob Dylan and The Verve and makes me think of 70’s rock, which I love. Their name supposedly comes from Marlon Brando’s motorcycle gang in 1953’s The Wild One.
The first song is called Weight of the World and is from my favorite album, Howl (2005). It is a bit more mainstream but still heavily folk/rock influenced.
The second song is the one that was featured on Bones called “Feel It Now” and was featured on the Howl follow-up album, Howl Sessions (2006) which features un-released songs from the Howl era.
Had a lia sophia show at Mom’s Friday night – she has a great group of friends and I had a lot of fun trying out a few new ideas with them. Made a few upgrades to my table including an earring display inspired somewhat by things I’ve seen on Pinterest and made much easier by being nearly pre-made for me by Craft Warehouse. ;)
Of course my camera’s batteries ended up being dead as doornails when I tried to take photos to post here so I had to resort to my crappy camera phone. My apologies for the unfocused and oddly lit pictures!
New earring display - found a pre-made unfinished wood frame with mesh insert at Craft Warehouse which I painted black and found a cute picture stand to use so it could be displayed on the table.
Silver and Hematite display tray
Monthly special magnet board, gold display tray and new ring tray!
New ring tray - found it at Marshall's for just $4.99, my new favorite store for stylish housewares at awesome prices!
Deep Sea necklace on display - found the awesome vintage looking key at Craft Warehouse as well, just a buck!
Curio necklace - one of my favorites! Such a statement piece.
The entire display - still a work in progress, I would like to work more textures and height variances (maybe even a lamp for soft lighting?) in future to make the display more dynamic.
I welcome thoughts and ideas!

+ The very small chance of snow tonight and/or tomorrow - I'm such a kid when it comes to the chance of snow! :)
- The snuffly nose, sneezing and "cold" feeling that developed last night and has persevered though 7.5 hours of overtime today - probably not a good idea to have worked but we needed to get some things taken care of (which ultimately was defeating since, although we got a lot done and worked really hard, we weren't able to complete everything we were charged with doing - ugh).
I have come to realize I have a serious addition problem. I am addicted to Pinterest.
If you are not familiar with Pinterest, it is an online bulletin/vision board style photo share website where users create “boards” based upon certain themes of their choosing. It may be images (most images lead to links) of recipes to try, a board plastered with images of wedding dresses and favor ideas or it could be a board of fashion styles you love and one of places you would love to visit.
The mission statement of Pinterest is to connect everyone in the world through shared tastes and the “things” they find interesting, and I have to say, I have found plenty of new things that fascinate me on the boards!

This outfit just screams a Saturday at Powell's!
Wow - this used to a tv stand?
Pins may be added from a website using the “Pin It” button or as an image uploaded from a personal computer. Hours can be wasted perusing the boards of not only your friends but also perfect strangers.
Household ideas abound … I mean, who knew you could light an orange as a candle or how to reuse an old crappy tv stand to make a beyond awesome play kitchen for your favorite 4 year old? I constantly find myself in awe and inspired by the creativity these ladies demonstrate. I say ladies due to the seemingly 80% or so female user base – there are some brave men now entering the Pinterest world (I recently referred to a male friend who is on there as a “lone wolf”), a smart move in my book – what better way to try to understand the crazy female mind? :)
Bucket list - go on an African Safari
Harry Potter pillows!

Music is a huge part of my life (just ask my co-workers who are subject to me CONSTANTLY playing my very eclectic Pandora stations every day at work). ;)
There are songs that inspire me, touch me, make me want to shake my bootie and ones that even make me angry or happy. My goal is to post a YouTube video featuring a song of the week that has moved me in some way along with a quick note as to the reason I felt the need to share. My hope is that I perhaps have the opportunity to introduce you to a few new artists or songs and that you enjoy them as much as I do.
Today’s selection is not that obscure really, it is actually going to be overplayed very quickly on the radio but it is one that really resonated with me the first time I heard it. First, I have to just say that Coldplay is AWESOME! Second, this song is just beautiful – I’m really digging both singles released so far off the 2011 Mylo Xyloto album, “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” and this one, “Paradise.” While the video amuses me to no end (and actually is kind of fitting considering my thing for elephants) it is the lyrics that hit rather close to home.
When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach so
She ran away in her sleep
And dreamed of Para – Para – Paradise
Para-Para-Paradise, Para-Para-Paradise
Every time she closed her eyes
When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
And the bullets catch in her teeth
Life goes on, it gets so heavy
The wheel breaks the butterfly
Every tear a waterfall
In the night the stormy night she’ll close her eyes
In the night the stormy night away she’d fly
And dreams of Para-Para-Paradise…
…And so lying underneath those stormy skies
She’d say “oh, ohohohoh I know the sun must set to rise”…
*Reflections about the highs and lows of my week – an airing of grievances and things to be happy about. My hope is that by acknowledging these aspects of my life I will be inspired to continue to see the good and strive for the better and to let go of the things that bother me by purging them via written word.
+I got an A (well, minus) in my December class (LifeSpan Development) – while I’m grateful that it was still an “A” I’m encouraged to try even harder in this next class and get back to a full A!:)
-Dealing with an end of an era of sorts and I will miss it, more than I can say. (Don’t ask.)
